So here's what I have for you. I chose a darker color scheme...obviously built around the banner photo, but it is easily adjusted so please appreciate the design over the color scheme.
The floating main blog post draws the attention so it will be the first thing read. The sub posts are underneath in a slightly darker text. The pictures to the side can and should be thumbnails of any included pictures in the blog post.
The news should work, I assume, off of an RSS feed from CNN or the like, so those thinks would just fall into that box.
Partners and Links have also been included, but text orientation can be changed, as well as box positioning.
Overall, it's a simple, attractive, modern looking blog page, not too focused on any one hobby or interest of yours.
