red background. I was thinking of something very light in color, because users may be on this site for hours at a time:

white center. I'd like to try having a background color behind the main content-- this would have to be a very subtle hue and/or pattern. This example http://littlefrenchgardenhouse.blogspot.com/ suggests that it's possible.
rose/logo. Won't the rose "get in the way" with the logo? i.e. where would the logo fit? Maybe you want to include a simple script logo (FPO) in the next version?
brown paper behind nav area. nice idea, but I'm assuming you'll want to change this once the whole page becomes a light color.
cartoon-y vines. The actual vines are slightly too "cartoon"-y... I'd either prefer a look that's more photo-realistic (i.e. the css zen garden example-- http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=/154/154.css&page=5)... or going the other direction more like a sketch, like you might see in a real estate listing for a house.
